Silicone Night Light — Rechargeable Soft Glow Bear Lamp

Night feeds, night wakings and the long settling period before sleep all need the same thing from a light: enough to see by, and not enough to properly wake anyone up. A ceiling light or a phone torch destroys the drowsy state you spent twenty minutes building. The RAVZELOY Silicone Night Light is built to sit in that narrow window — a warm, dim, steady glow that lets you change a nappy or find a dropped pacifier at 3 a.m. without fully waking either of you.

The lamp is a rounded sitting bear moulded in one piece from soft matte silicone. There are no seams, no joints, no hard shell and no removable small parts. It is genuinely squishy to squeeze, it does not heat up however long it is left on, and it is light enough for a toddler to carry to the bathroom themselves later on. Those three properties are what make it safe to place beside a cot or on a low shelf, where a hard plastic or glass lamp simply would not be.

The light is a warm amber glow, deliberately positioned at the red end of the spectrum rather than blue-white. Blue-rich light suppresses melatonin and signals daytime to a body clock that is still developing; warm light does far less of that. It is dimmable, so it can sit low for a feed or go a little brighter for a story, and it holds its setting — you are not cycling through brightness levels in the dark trying to find the one you wanted.

Because it is rechargeable and cordless, it goes anywhere: bedside, changing table, the floor beside a toddler bed, a travel bag. There is no cable running toward the cot, which is both tidier and safer, and no batteries to replace every fortnight. A single charge covers several nights of ordinary use.

The silicone surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, which is a real consideration for an object that lives within reach of sticky hands and gets handled constantly. And the bear shape earns its place during the day as well — a soft, friendly object on a shelf, rather than a piece of equipment that has to be hidden once the sun comes up.
